If you are a high-achieving student and are interested in taking college courses in the summer, many schools offer summer programs for high school students.
Rutgers University is currently promoting classes to 9th, 10th, and 11th graders. Students must have a minimum GPA of a 3.0.Students can take up to two introductory-level college courses in a variety of fields. Scholarships are also available on the basis of academic merit and financial need. Visit Summer Scholars for details and to apply.
Middlesex County College also has a high school scholars programs for students interested in taking classes during the school year or the summer. Visit MCC High School Scholars Program for details and to apply.

* Reach - college standards exceed your scores
* Target - college standards comparable to your scores
* Safety/Likely - your scores exceed the college standards
Applications - Create an account on Common Application for the schools you are interested in. Try to have the majority done while you are on vacation. Also start applications for schools that are not on Common Application.
Essays - Work on your draft of the Common Application Essay/Personal Statement. Common Application Essay Prompts.
Test Preparation - SAT, SAT Subject Tests, and/or ACT
Community Service - Summer is also a great time to participate in community service. Please see the Volunteering Tab for ideas.

Fords Middle School Carnival is looking for student volunteers who would like to work on April
25, 2015, from 10-6. The carnival will be held at Fords Middle School on
Fanning St. in Fords. The volunteers will be asked to run games, monitor blow
ups, help with set up and take down, serve food, and for those that are

What is ACCUPLACER?
ACCUPLACER is a suite of tests that determines your knowledge in math, reading and writing as you prepare to enroll in college-level courses. ACCUPLACER is used to identify your strengths and weaknesses in each subject area and to help you improve your skills through interactive online learning tools. The results of the assessment, in conjunction with your academic background, goals and interests, are used by academic advisors and counselors to place you in the appropriate college courses that meet your skill level.

On March 4th, 5th, and 6th, juniors will be taking the HSPA. Below is a guide and preparation booklet to give you an idea of what to expect. Tutoring is also offered throughout the week and on some Saturdays. See your guidance counselor for the tutoring schedule.

Volunteer/Club Opportunity - Students Helping Students Club

In case you missed the Arts High presentation, feel free to come down to guidance if you have any questions. The deadline to apply is November 15th. Auditions are held on Sunday, December 8, 2013.
Acceptance is competitive. Once applied, requirements for the auditions will be posted on their site on November 15th.
